Our dear friend Serena Reynolds is releasing a new film called Dear Margaret, that we’re so happy to share with everyone. Serena has worked with us and many of our clients- from the Audrey Grace Pop-Up Shop video, to the Katherine Kwei AW12 preview, and most recently shooting a fanciful editorial with Audrey Grace’s Jaclyn Bethany at Mallory’s apartment.
We love her aesthetic, and couldn’t be more excited as we watched the trailer of her upcoming film. We are so into the main character’s pink polka dot socks, green eyeliner and purple hair clips, and her adorable chunky plastic jewelry.
The Daily Muse Goes Inside the World of Entrepreneurs
Life as an entrepreneur is nowhere near dull and as a start-up ourselves, we can completely relate to the rapid changes a small business can go through - along with the many adventures that come along!
The Daily Muse spotlight kicks off with Cheryl Yeoh, whom our client Unpakt moved from SF to NYC to found her company ReClipIt.
The Kroll Show’s “PubLIZity” - it’s based off our name…
If you’ve been watching the Kroll Show on Comedy Central, we’re sure you’ve been introduced to “Publizity”, a recurring sketch on the show parodying two PR girls who run a firm together. Oh… that sounds vaguely familiar.
The match between ‘the hardworking one’ and the one who wants to ‘live her life’ are among the PR tropes represented in this sketch, which may *ahem* seem a little familiar. Yep- many of our friends have frantically called or emailed us commenting on the fact that the similarities are uncanny… and if you thought you were the first, we hate to break it to you but we probably caught on to it before anyone else. But of course, as much as we can laugh about it, in the grand scheme of things we love the dichotomy in our personalities and have to admit that opposites definitely make the best team.
That being said, we have some totally serious PR tips for Liz B. and Liz G. the co-founders of “Publizity”, in order for them to level up their game:
When naming your PR firm, you should clearly base it off of your height, not your name.
Sending a dog down the red carpet? Try sending your celebrity puppy client down a pink prom fashion runway instead. Oh hai TommyPom.
Custom cupcakes are super tasty and we love them, but customized fro-yo and a sparkly jewelry line to match your fro-yo creates SO much more buzz.
And last but not least, let’s talk about the Publizity Pinterest. Kudos for also having a nail art board, but, you guys are missing a board dedicated to #GLITTER.
Watch the episodes for yourselves here! We can’t wait to see what crazy PR drama these two girls have in store for them.
ANAMANAGUCHI just released their arcade style video for single “meow”!! It’s kind of like if West Side Story was furbies vs goths in a lazer tag pavilion.
Anamanaguchi was actually one of our first clients, helping us get on our feet as a company back when Small Girls was a dream in an email chain. We love seeing and sharing all of the amazing things that these super kewl bros are doing.
VHX.tv founders reflect on rapid pace of technology & future of online video
Yesterday we debuted the second intallment of Unpakt’s “Innovators on the Move” series, catching entrepreneurs reflecting on the professional and physical moves they make as their companies grow.
In this video, Unpakt follows the Emmy-award winning duo behind online video platform VHX.tv as they hire their first team and move into their first offices. Co-founders Casey Pugh and Jamie Wilkinson (who previously helped build sites like Vimeo and produced internet favorite ‘Star Wars Uncut’) reflect on the rapid pace of technology and the doors that online video distribution can open for their users.
As per Jamie’s advice, “smart people in a post industrial landscape… you don’t make them come to you, you go to where they are,” we travel to both his home in SF and to their NY headquarters. As an online tool that allows the user to seamlessly move anywhere across the country, Unpakt celebrates these co-founders ability to stay nimble and run their startup coast to coast.
Candy & Crafting with Prom Girl + A Fashion Show Extravaganza
We had a great time crafting with Grace Atwood, sipping candy cocktails, and divulging our princess secrets in the tiara confessional at our intimate event at Dylan’s last month! Check out this fun whimsical video to The Hotcakes’ Round & Round + photos from the event here!
Can’t wait to share Prom Girl 2013 trends with the world on Friday, December 14th at their Fashion Show Extravaganza! They’ll be previewing these styles on the runway, from sparkling sequins to neon brights- as the Jane Doze and Payton Rae perform.
With a candy bar by Handsome Dan’s Candy, prom-itive energy bracelets by Alex + Ani, hair touch ups by Jose Eber hair tools, prom photos by the Bosco Booth, and illustrations by Lacee Swan, it’s sure to be a fun night!
There’s a mandatory RSVP so if you’ve received an invite from us, please let us know that you’re coming! If you’re a Small Girls BFF and want an invite, shoot us an email… we’ve been known to play fairy small girls to cinderellas that want to go to the ball prom
The “Mini” Covetuers #minicoveteurs
Being Small Girls, we kind of feel like we have this weird connection with children… what with being tiny people and all. Plus we love candy, Barbie, Disney princesses, cartoons, pink, cute things, etc., and apparently, so do kids.
We’ve been known to post kid related things on our blog every nowandagain, but nothing has been so epic as this video that The Coveteur posted of their #minicoveteurs yesterday. Lil Lagerfeld? Leigh Lezark? Rachel Zoe? Paparazzi? Amazing. If we weren’t already so little, we’d say we wished we had mini versions of ourselves.
In 1999, Stephen Chbosky’s debut novel The Perks of Being a Wallflower was in every gym locker and JanSport. It was passed around at slumber parties, smuggled inside biology textbooks, and banned from schools around the country. Written entirely in letters to an unnamed stranger, Perks explored sex, drugs, friendship, loneliness, movies, music, and everything else on the teenage mind. Today, the film of this beloved book, 13 years in the making, finally opens in theaters, starring Emma “Hermione” Watson. We trapped Chbosky in our closet to find out what it all feels like.
