Street style with Mallory and Tommy Pom after last week’s NYC Uncubed.

With Hurricane Sandy putting most of NYC, and the startups therein, out of commission last week, we postponed NYC’s largest tech talent fair UNCUBED and spent the time instead helping NY get back on its feet.
The new dates are now Monday, November 12th and Tuesday, November 13th.
Same schedule and same great founders speaking about their startups- from Neil Blumenthal of Warby Parker to the lovely Birchbox ladies- and small fries to Spotify putting on a show and dance to keep and attract top talent.
The proceeds from the panels and fun of Day 2 will go towards Hurricane Sandy relief. So get out of the house, do some good, and walk out with a new job in the tech center of NYC.

We’re bringing UNCUBED back home to New York next week but this time as a 2-day festival, produced in part by our friends over at NYC Digital.  For those looking to get out of their cubicle and into working for a startup, you can grab tickets here: nycuncubed.splashthat.com
Over 60 of NY’s emerging tech companies, from Tumblr to Etsy, are going to be hosting live designer battles, paper napkin pitching contests, lean machine startup workshops, panels on the future of tech & fashion, and startup storytelling by everyone from Gary Vaynerchuk to  the Warby Parker founders.
We’ll be holding court both days, so be sure to stop by the press table and say hi. :)

Tarek Pertew, co-founder of Wakefield and NYC Uncubed, tries on Tortoise & Blonde frames.

Which frames do you think suit him: Keyser (left) or the Sunset (right)?

Personally we’re into the Keysers.

The line was two city blocks long on Thursday waiting for the door’s to open at UNCUBED - NYC’s largest tech talent fair for which did all the PR.

Over 80 of the city’s most buzz-worthy startups came together to put celebrate NY tech with speaker panels, workshops, live music and an open bar… all in the hopes of attracting top talent to keep them right here in NY.  Spotify provided the speaker lounge and live performances while Tumblr poured the all day open bar in signature “tumbler” glasses.  When we signed onto the project the panelists and speakers were a full roster of impressive, but all male, names. By the time we were done we had appointed one savvy woman in tech to each panel and coordinated Joanna Stern (tech editor of ABC news) and Bianca Bosker (tech editor of HuffPo) to moderate each as well.

We broke the story on Tech Crunch, with follow-up pieces from AM Daily, The Observer and in-event coverage from CNN, Channel 11 News, CNBC, NPR, WNYC and an appropriately titled Startup Magazine.

UNCUBED’s next stop is Philly.  Stay tuned.
