Gary Vaynerchuk is someone who we’ve absolutely adored and respected in the business world- from his inspiring motto of ‘crushing it’, his views on appreciating the consumer with the Thank You Economy, and the amazing work he’s doing at Vaynermedia (where many awesome people we know are employed!)
You can imagine our excitement when we got the twitter notification that Gary named us one of 5 companies you should be paying attention to, while we were at the Tribeca Disruptive Innovation Awards last Friday- as we may or may not have drifted from the conversation we were in to run off and tweet about it.
We’re so honored to be included on this list! Check out the rest of the post to read more about the other 4 companies here.
On another note, it was quite appropriate that this post was on LinkedIn because we’re hiring! Yeah!!
The line was two city blocks long on Thursday waiting for the door’s to open at UNCUBED - NYC’s largest tech talent fair for which did all the PR.
Over 80 of the city’s most buzz-worthy startups came together to put celebrate NY tech with speaker panels, workshops, live music and an open bar… all in the hopes of attracting top talent to keep them right here in NY. Spotify provided the speaker lounge and live performances while Tumblr poured the all day open bar in signature “tumbler” glasses. When we signed onto the project the panelists and speakers were a full roster of impressive, but all male, names. By the time we were done we had appointed one savvy woman in tech to each panel and coordinated Joanna Stern (tech editor of ABC news) and Bianca Bosker (tech editor of HuffPo) to moderate each as well.
We broke the story on Tech Crunch, with follow-up pieces from AM Daily, The Observer and in-event coverage from CNN, Channel 11 News, CNBC, NPR, WNYC and an appropriately titled Startup Magazine.
UNCUBED’s next stop is Philly. Stay tuned.
We were selected for Urban Outfitters’ round-up of noteworthy tumbleogs for their Tumblr Tuesday edition last week. Peep the link for other fun, time-wasting opportunities and then click through to Gram of Thrones for more instagrammable moments from our favorite HBO show.
“Popular Tumblr bloggers like Mallory Blair mingled with models like Coco Rocha”
We were spotted during #NYFW by the Wall Street Journal (February 17th 2012)
New York Magazine asked Mallory to assess the effectiveness of an array of #OccupyWallStreet signs snapped at the rally this week. She assigns each a letter grade along with notes on branding and packaging of the protest message. Click through to view the slideshow and read on.
Invoicing is mundane. Freshbooks makes it fun (or mindless, so you can have fun doing things that don’t include routinely creating and reminding a full roster of clients about individual invoices.)
Following the link is a loosely transcribed interview with Mallory in the small business section of Crains NY on just that.
We are the centerfold of The New York Post today!
