Porto, to bring. Velo, referring to travel.
Love, rearrangement of velo.
Portovelo: Bringing adventure and love.
What better way to travel than with shoes made up of adventure and love?
We Small Girls do a lot of traveling, and we needed the perfect spring sneakers to handle our quick trips and sassy style. That’s where our friends (and new client!) Portovelo comes in-
After searching the world (all 7 continents) the makers of Portovelo created the perfect travel shoe. Good for your feet and your style. These cute little slippers have more to them than meets the eye though- with their “Miles to Meals, one step at a time” philanthropy program, Portovelo provides 15 meals to hungry children in need with every purchase of shoes.
The Santorini White, Chealsea Red, London Slate and Pacific Blue harken some of the great places one can travel to- but don’t let your feet or imagination stop you there.
We’re excited to have taken these shoes to LA and Miami and soon to Morocco, Vegas, and Vienna. Woo!
Anyone traveling anywhere exciting this summer?

#SmallGirlsBigBalls at Brooklyn Bowl
Last weekend we threw a bowling party at one of our fave venues, Brooklyn Bowl. Our #SmallGirlsBigBalls bowling buddies split into two teams; “Fairytaleanca” captained the Unicorns, while “Your Elf Mal” lead the Magic Elves.
The Unicorns (Bianca “Fairytaleanca”, Annie “Annicorn”, Bethany “BB Bighorn”, Corey ”Unicoreyican”, Jaimen ”Jaimen Sfetkorn”, & Jessica ”Jessicorn”) got straight up mythical on the lanes. And The Magic Elves (Mallory “Your Elf Mal”, McArthur ”Magicarthur”, Taisa ”Taielfa”, Melanie ”Sketchy Elf” & Mason “Melf”) channelled all of their holiday spirit into this legendary fantasyland bowling battle.
Between strikes (and a few gutter balls) we all got down on frozen strawberry margaritas, cheese fries (duh), and french bread pizza. And when everyone clicked their glamorous bowling shoes together, a magical brownie sundae appeared!
Shot out to the champions of #SmallGirlsBigBalls bowling: the Unicorns, who celebrated their win with fried chicken.
P.S. we missed you Arabelle, Amy Rose, Nicolette, Alexandra, Dustin, Emma, Samantha, Madeline, Bonnie, Justin, and Natalie!
Madison Maxey Trunk Show November, 18th 2012
We had the pleasure of working with the Madion Maxey team for their trunk show at Ruia in Soho this month. It was a great success as we spent a lovely afternoon sipping champagne, trying on blazers and mingling with our blogger friends- including Rachel Martino, Johnny Bell of NY Trendy Moms, Alexandra of Kita Moda, Veronica De Souza (the mastermind behind th Binders Full of Women tumblr) and more!
Shout out to JewelMint who treated each of the guests to a $20 gift card upon arrival. <3
We are so excited for our custom fit Madison Maxey blazers. The Small Girls team ordered matching blazers inspired by The Pink Ladies jackets from Grease. Keep an eye out for a gang of short, very stylin’ PR gals.
Always wear your invisible crown with Prom Girl!
Our client, Prom Girl put up a “wear your crown” app on their facebook page. The Small Girls team may have had a little too much fun with it.
Actually… when it comes to tiaras, there is no such thing as too much fun.
- “My tiara is too big. #smallgirlproblems” - Bianca & Mal
- Annie is a babe
- “I’m not an ugly duckling when I have my invisible crown on” - Bethany
- “I like to wear crowns on my hats” - Brandon (our SEO king)
Crown yourself and send us the pics!

SWEET. According to CNN, as the price of corn rises, farmers are turning to gummy bears to feed their cattle. The article states that cows are ”being fed chocolate bars, gummy worms, ice cream sprinkles, marshmallows, bits of hard candy and even powdered hot chocolate mix,”
In a perfect world, we’d gorge on sprinkles until the cows came home… and then we’d eat marshmallows with them.
Small Girls’ Internets of the Week
A weekly round up of what our friends are getting into on the WORLD WIDE WEB(!) brought to you by Bethany.
Cat vs. Human

Josie Ng, our designer friend at Organic, Inc., says her favorite blog is Cat Vs. Human. If you have a kitty friend, then you will more than likely relate to this kitschy comic strip brought to you by Yasmine Surovec—cartoonist and feline aficionado. It’s like Garfield, minus the lasagna fetish and genuine hatred towards Mondays.
Bandit Brand

Emily Marrucci, the editorial assistant at Seen Heard Known says that Bandit Brand is the best bloggy to follow. Their tumblr is essentially a virtual aggregation of vintage t-shirts that the ladies behind Bandit Brand covet. What I’m really trying to say here is, give me this t-shirt…OR PERISH.
Sorry, Feminists!

Brokelyn.com blogger Alison Pels, is the clear winner of this whole “pick your favorite blog so that we can jock your steez” thing that Bethany’s doing. She chose Sorry, Feminists! as her blog-o-the-week which rules because I love GIFs on GIFs on GIFs, and this tumblr is full of GIFs that mock those who have a misconception of what feminism is and challenge feminist stereotypes using sarcasm and humor. We even found a GIF of the Small Girls crew on the blog.
