It is with great pleasure that we worked on HUSH, Gawker’s 3rd Annual Silent Disco.
On August 9th, we switched things up from their regular silent rooftop discos of the past and took the party to the New York Public Library (get it? HUSH! It’s a library reference!), where we slipped on our dancing shoes, sipped on Southern Comfort specialty cocktails, and styled ourselves in shiny, golden attire. Silence is golden, afterall.
Brilliant synergism aside, we got to be part of a pretty kickass party, with the likes of Yeasayer, Das Racist, and DJ Kalkutta spinning silent tunage allllll night looooong.
The halls were decked with golden furniture and makeup artists roamed the party gold dusting and gold shimmering patrons in case the gilded accessories we’d laid out weren’t enough.
Attendees included recent Project Runway competitor Buffi Jamanalah, the usual media suspects from ABC’s Maya Baratz to Today Show’s Rina Raphael, a majority of the FourSquare team (that office knows how to party) as well as tech founders such as Aviary’s Michael Galpert and Draw Something creator Charles Foreman. And, of course, Gawker Media’s notorious Nick Denton was there as the gilded disco’s very own King Midas.
