Although incredibly convenient, addicting, and entertaining, by now we all know the perils inherent in online shopping. And no, we don’t just mean how easy it is to spend your rent check on the best pair of shoes ever from the comforts of your bed. Refinery 29 gave us the scoop on, Design Faux Real, a site linked with the International AntiCounterfeiting Coalition (IACC), which recently launched in an attempt to expose the harm that both your bank account and wardrobe can face when you surf’n’shop. The site acts as a mock e-commerce platform, selling* clothing and accessories from ultra-popular brands like Juicy Couture, Kate Spade, and Lacoste. Buyer beware (literally) you’ll just have to ignore the warnings of credit card debt, fraud, and inauthenticity tacked on to each item for sale on the site.

*They don’t actually sell the items listed on their site, they’re just being Miley facetious.

Snaps and pats on the back go to the IACC, in conjunction with the Luxury Design Council, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, for using engaging tactics to disseminate their message to the public.

Our First Edition of Fierce Lady Fridays!
We just got our hands on Fast Company’s March issue to read through their feature on the World’s 50 Most Innovative Companies. Super incredibly wonderful is the fact that a number of these companies are headed by lovely ladies! So check out our first installment of #FierceLadyFridays:

Sophia Amoruso is only 28 years old and the brain-beauty behind our favorite (LITERALLY) online clothing retailer, Nasty Gal. Homegirl revolutionized the fashion biz by bringing the kind of clothes we covet to a digital empire. The company is growing at an impressive rate; in 2011 Nasty Gal brought in $28million and more than a cool $120million in 2012. Big ups, you Nasty Gal, you.

Susan Gregg Kroger, founder of ModCloth, took a big risk when she implemented ‘Be The Buyer’ on the virtual thrift store platform; the addition lets consumers pick from trade show samples to decide what clothing the site should produce. The company is growing more than 50% annually.
High five, Sophia & Susan. You both rule so hard for keeping our wardrobes interesting.

Announcing the online launch of the Audrey Grace Boutique!

We’ve been tying bows and adding lace for the past month to get the launch just right and it’s finally time.

Over the next week, we’ll be releasing whimsical Audrey Grace content in the form of look books on Racked, videos on Fashionista, and style snaps from across the sea on Stylecaster all made by some of our favorite style bloggers with pieces from Audrey Grace, including popular gals Cali Vintage and The Cherry Blossom Girl.

We’ll be posting the looks as they go live, so stay tuned!

It’s no secret that we’re big fans of Cure Thrift Shop (it is where we bonded over flip cam, and realized we made a great team). Bianca talks about why Cure is her favorite NYC store in Racked NY’s Shopping Confidential! So magical.

American Apparel NY Warehouse Sale- A Shopping/Dance Haul Video

As previously posted, American Apparel had invited Small Girls to the VIP Warehouse Pre-sale, and as previously posted, Mallory and I bought a lot of stuff. I’m re-defining the shopping haul video with sweet dance moves… Let’s be honest, I’ve never been a fan of just talking about something. #dancefever

Watch the video to see what I got! And of course, since my dance videos are never complete without props:

headband-puma, eyewear-tortoise & blonde, cuff-sorrelli, necklace-cheap monday, fox hat-made by Arkadiy Kukarkin, pom poms-toys r’ us, feather mask-party city (actually technically given to me by haute like couture)

music: The Static Jacks- Into the Sun (RAC remix)

YAY.

We decided to take a different approach to your traditional shopping haul video, so we did what we do best… (as lykke li would say) dance, dance, dance.

Many thanks again to Joey at American Apparel for inviting us to the warehouse pre-sale! <3

Thanks to our amazing friends at American Apparel, we got the chance to shop their VIP Warehouse Pre-sale!

There’s nothing like running around a nearly empty block long space filled with racks and racks of AA merchandise at deep discounts. We had so much fun, we didn’t want to leave. Photos and video of our awesome finds coming soon, but we couldn’t wait to share the details of the public sale with you all, so you don’t miss it!

The broad assortment not only promises a spectrum of the brand’s massive selection of T-shirts, leggings, sweatshirts, and underwear, but also thousands of newer pieces such as chiffon button-ups, winter jackets, disco pants, and small accessories and beauty items such as American Apparel Nail Polish. There will be many surprises, unusual product runs, and sizes available. The sale will also be stocked with vintage items, discontinued favorites, overstock, slight damages, circle scarves, and a trove of hosiery. Inventory will be replenished all day, every day during the sale and customers are encourage to return to the sale as many times as they want for more selection. Cash, credit, and debit are accepted, and admission is free.
