darklamb:

It’s not every day you go to a fashion party and get to punch someone in the face.

But that’s exactly what happened at the Refashioner re-launch party yesterday. Kate Sekules, founder of the high-end closet exchange community site hosted the party at famed Gleason’s gym and got plenty of fashionistas in the ring. A former female pro-boxer herself, Sekules boasts an impressive history as editor at Food&Wine and Conde Naste Digital and has now transitioned into the ecommerce/social media sphere with Refashioner. Go check out the newly redesigned site, (and/or the tumblr) create a closet for yourself and shop other users awesome merch!

Punching is so in this season. So is ReFashioner.

Shot by The Style Blogger photographer, Alex Crawford, we spent yesterday modeling client ReFashioner’s items (available in their virtual consignment shop coming soon) alongside some other kick ass entrepreneurs, artisans, and merry makers including designer Hayden Dunham, Jordan Blumberg of Daily Candy, and Pop Manifesto editor Ilirjana Alushaj.

If the SOPA act isn’t killed, we’d all be banished to the 80s without a free and open internet. And we could only take solace in puffy plum vintage dresses, like this one. Swap for it now!
A Small Girls Channukah Guide:
1. If you want to be surrounded by jolly people this holiday season, give the gift of clear eyesight with a pair of Tortoise & Blonde glasses. Pearl and The Beard loves them.Probably because they can see clearly now.
2. Ever wanted to see your bff wearing a cool fanny pack? AND a pair of shades? Katherine Kwei has lots of great styles, shapes & colors. We recommend pairing any of the handbags with a pair of Tortoise & Blonde sunglasses (to combat holiday party hangovers, obvs).
3. Did you get a shirt from someone that you just don’t like? Refashioner makes regifting your closet easy and simple. Who knows, you might even find yourself a new wardrobe (for half the price), too!

The Gift of Iteration: Trial and Error, Adjustment and Refocusing: by ReFashioner Founder Kate Sekules

An amazing post on In Good Company, by ReFashioner founder Kate Sekules, about leaving the publishing world and starting the curated high fashion swap site.

“It’s tempting to focus on certain signifiers of success—the mad money VC deal, the “10 Hot blah blah” lists, the DeLonghi espresso machine in your Flatiron HQ—but they’re just media candy. I had to admit: that really isn’t me. I’m not a 20-something boy wonder nor a serial entrepreneur powerhouse. I’m just trying something new that I believe in 100%.”

We love Kate’s energy, drive, and outlook, and are so happy to be working with her! Click the link above to read the rest of the piece.
