ofakind:

When you read The Perks of Being a Wallflower, it’s damn easy to fall for the troublemaker-slash-outsider who is Sam, just like Charlie does. And now that Emma Watson’s going to be playing her in the movie version this month—well, it couldn’t really get much better. Here’s…

Ted Baker USA 5th Avenue Press Preview: From Princess Tent to Fancy Boudoir

For our second look at the Ted Baker 5th Avenue store opening, we decided to go with our signature black, pink, and white color schemes, classing it up from our matching onesies (as seen in this shoot we did with Eric Strauss 2 years ago). Small Girls are growin’ up- both in business and in style.

Small Girls, Grand House: Ted Baker of London Opens its Grand House Doors on 5th Avenue

On Thursday, we hurried over for tea time with Ted Baker to celebrate the British luxury brand’s new home on 5th avenue.

The velvet-curtained, art deco store is designed in the style of a dark 1920s London townhouse, with floor having it’s own theme - the woman’s boudoir for dresses, the prohibition era salon for accessories, a scullery with bells and butlers for menswear.

The Ted Baker team generously invited us to preview the store pre-opening and be photographed in looks from their collection. We spent probably over an hour cooing over the glittering bags, crystal snapped clutches, and silk lining of virtually every piece but in the end decided to select looks that spoke to the nature of our business rather than be distracted by every beautiful thing that awaited our zipping and buttoning.

Running a company with a partner is a lot like a marriage. You play different roles that compliment each other and often end up supporting each other not just professionally but emotionally as well. Since we knew we’d be posing together, we decided to emphasize this aspect of our relationship by going for a “couples” look.

Bianca pulled a striped top from Ted Baker’s “Girls will be Boys” collection, designed to look and fit like you are dipping into a boys wardrobe, while maintaining feminine details. Bianca also actually dipped into Ted Baker’s menswear collection, as men’s clothing is something she commonly incorporates into her wardrobe. This blue polka dot woven, exclusive to the 5th Avenue shop, added an offbeat pattern play to an already unconventional girl’s look.

Known for their beautiful dresses, Mallory grabbed a matching striped frock, true to her sweet girly style. The yellow belt is the perfect accent to the navy and white dress, also pulling together the yellow details in Bianca’s outfit. A scarf fashioned as a headband (putting a twist to Mallory’s signature bow) finishes off the boy/girl dynamic.

Check out the rest of our photos on the Small Girls Facebook Page, and view Ted Baker’s “Midtown Abbey” campaign in which they sent butlers and maids loose on the streets of Manhattan here. They ‘re celebrating their grand opening all weekend, so be sure to check them out at 595 5th Ave, NY NY 10017 // at 48th Street

The Things I Wear: And all the glitter in the world isn’t enough to show you how much I love the sparkle…

also titled, A Small Girls PR Adventure in Glitterland

Two things I love- nudey peach and glitter. This dress has both of those things, and couldn’t have been more appropriate for the Small Girls PR team outing, Monday night (pictured above with our Petite Publicist, Rachel Martino and our Accounts Assistant, Annie Jackson). Our first stop was dinner at L’asso with our BFF Greg Barris, dessert at our former client’s Spot Dessert Bar, and of course a night cap at my favorite bar in the world Sake Bar Satkso.

This dress sparkled all over the East Village, shedding its glittery pieces wherever we went… and as my late night Sake Bar Crew #2* witnessed, even on people.

And of course, in honor of the Small Girls PR themed outing, there’s a lot of client action happening here.

* Sake Bar Crew #2: Chris Reed, Joey Ng, and TC Meggs + appearances by Jessica Amason & my BFF Matt Caps <3 <3

With our growing team, we thought it would be a fun idea to take our new Small Girls out on the town, and show them our favorite spots in the East Village.

This is what Bianca wore on the adventure. #fashion

StyleFrame: Holiday Dressing for the Rocker
While your fully loaded schedule of band rehearsals and shows may be enough, we know you’ve got your fair share of holiday parties to hit. How do you take your studio space look to the tinsel strewn, open bar, sure to be photographed holiday festivities? Don’t worry that beautiful yet unkempt head [of hair] of yours. Just take a swig from your glass of whiskey-on-the-jingle-bell rocks, because T&B has you covered.
The Bonobos Deep Navy Safari Blazer is your alternative to the typical blazer. A great fit that conveys a little bit of class, while still maintaining your casual laid back “I don’t care about societal norms” vibes.
The mini pinstripes on this All-son Military Shirt from Urban Outfitters adds that prep to your image, without making you look like you belong in a country club. We know this is in, because we saw an entire Norwegian band basically wearing this as a uniform at a Greenpoint loft party. True stories.
Who says you can’t wear navy and black together? And more importantly, who gives a flying guitar riff? These JBrand Kane Jeans are slim, straight, and for all intents and purposes- holiday party fancy. No one will even know that you’ve spent the entire week sleeping in these pants in your tour van.
The Tortoise & Blonde Quincy glasses in Fade to Grey give off an unspoken sense of sophistication. Oh yes, the ombre look will let everyone at the party know how serious of a musician you are- your mind filled with deep meaningful lyrics that you’d apathetically discuss to those who attempt conversation about your art.
Keep the Tortoise & Blonde Ashbury shades in one of those giant blazer pockets of yours (see why you needed to opt for the safari jacket?) for the inevitable blast of sunshine you will be getting as you walk (or stumble) out of the “after-hours, post-after, after party” at 7am. It’s always good to be surprisingly responsible… and to look cool while doing it.

We’d go to a holiday party with this guy.

StyleFrame: Patterns & Textures
We’re huge fans of Urban Outfitters, having just been at the UO HQ this past week and going on tour with them this Fall. We love the pattern & texture play in this outfit, with the Urban Renewal Geo Cardigan over the belted dark floral dress.
We’re taking cues from the patterns of the pieces and the neutral of the the tan belt, adding the Delancey in Brown Sugar.

How She’d Wear It: Jen Rubio on The Odd Slipper’s Cheetah Pumps
Cheetah print is my new favorite neutral. I’d show off these Odd Slipper pumps with Tibi sequin shorts peeking out from under a camel cape (with a leather tank or silk blouse under it, depending on the occasion). For a dose of bright color, this McQueen chain-strap clutch is perfect (look at that skull detail!), and I’d complete the outfit with a stack of black gold and acrylic rings and a textured gold YSL cuff—and obligatory black acetate Warby Parker frames to help me see. Individually, everything is pretty understated, but it all comes together for a fun but polished look.
