closetfreaksblog:

Last week we went to Gawker Media’s Silent Disco party at the New York Public Library and brought our new hag blog contributor, that Sketchy Blonde, Melanie along. (See, we don’t always sit home on our laptops…we occasionally have an actual life). If you haven’t heard of a silent disco (we had no idea what it was)…it’s like this really fun thing where everyone has headphones so you don’t hear the music out loud. Pretty sure when we took our headphones off though that everyone was singing off key but that’s what the free SoCo was for. To get your ass too drunk to give a fuck. It was a great time and we obvs ran into some #basic bitches - you know who I’m talking about. Justin, Christina, Bonnie, and Bianca to name a few…
Oh wait. But this blog is about “fashion” right? While we don’t normally prance about the city in shiny outfits, the theme was GOLD as in “Silence Is Golden” so we did our best. Black and gold seemed the easiset route to go so Dustin donned a gold bowtie (shoutout to Youtube for helping us tie it), Anthony wore some non-gold animal print shirt that was just gonna have to work, and Melanie busted out the top knot and a metallic flowy shirt/cape thingy.

It is with great pleasure that we worked on HUSH, Gawker’s 3rd Annual Silent Disco.
On August 9th, we switched things up from their regular silent rooftop discos of the past and took the party to the New York Public Library (get it? HUSH! It’s a library reference!), where we slipped on our dancing shoes, sipped on Southern Comfort specialty cocktails, and styled ourselves in shiny, golden attire. Silence is golden, afterall.
Brilliant synergism aside, we got to be part of a pretty kickass party, with the likes of Yeasayer, Das Racist, and DJ Kalkutta spinning silent tunage allllll night looooong.
The halls were decked with golden furniture and makeup artists roamed the party gold dusting and gold shimmering patrons in case the gilded accessories we’d laid out weren’t enough.
Attendees included recent Project Runway competitor Buffi Jamanalah, the usual media suspects from ABC’s Maya Baratz to Today Show’s Rina Raphael, a majority of the FourSquare team (that office knows how to party) as well as tech founders such as Aviary’s Michael Galpert and Draw Something creator Charles Foreman. And, of course, Gawker Media’s notorious Nick Denton was there as the gilded disco’s very own King Midas.

HUSH: A gilded, silent disco
svpply:
Svpply team is heading to HUSH, Gawker’s 3rd annual silent disco, at the library this week. Yeasayer and Das Racist will be spinning tunes through specially designed wireless headsets given to attendees at the door. The dress code is gilded, so we’ve created a gold, silver, black and white collection to match.
Check out the collection that we helped curate on Svpply for Gawkers 3rd annual silent disco! Suggested attire, gold, glitzy, glam.

Mood Board: Bold Gold

Our creative team is pretty, well, creative and they come across beautiful imagery all the time. Why not share the inspiration? Keep an eye out each Friday for their Mood Board, a collection of images they’re loving.

Every girl needs some sparkle in her life. Right now, sparkly gold is all over our radar in the form of accessories and outrageously cool vehicles. Stack mismatched gold bangles up your wrist for a hot date this weekend or get around town in style with a glizted-out gold bike.
As much as we like gold in our accessories, we like it even more in our beauty products. Try Tatcha’s Aburatorigami Blotting Papers with real gold leaf for a little luxury as you blot away the shine.
This mood board is SO appropriate for something we’re working on with Gawker Media!
Check out Bianca in this Blackberry commercial for Gawker (and Gizmodo & Deadspin)
If you’ve ever spent any IRL time with Bianca, you’ll notice very quickly that her Blackberry is glued to her hand, so when Gawker was in search of interesting (dare was say BOLD) people for this series, the match seemed serendipitous.
Dripping in Sorrelli’s MiMi jewels, and wearing non-prescription Tortoise & Blonde frames *shrug*, Bianca talks about being passionate, risk taking, and working with brands you love.
Dancing is involved- duh. (Though the other Small Girl would like to clarify, most of the dancing in the office is done by Bianca- sequestered to her seat behind her giant monitor out of Mallory’s view… unless she can get Mal to dance with her)
Another Note: Small Girls was founded in 2010 :)
