Uh Huh Her- Not a Love Song

If Mallory and I were to ever start a band, I kind of imagine it would be like Uh Huh Her.

Also. If we to ever make a music video, I imagine we too would have crazy doodles and a unicorn pony. Plus lots of glitter, and maybe some batman and hello kitty.

She had us at “I’m stoked to eat cupcakes over business”
Meet Klarika, our new Creative Assistant! You may have seen her at our parties, assisting us as our super intern. Now that she has graduated, we’re so happy to make her the first official hire of Small Girls PR.

We’ve always joked that if we ever had a baby, our baby would basically be like Klarika. Getting an email from Klarika was like a gift brought down from a castle in the clouds by a unicorn travelling to our email accounts via a glittering rainbow.

Klarika is amazeballs- ask anyone who we’ve talked to about her. She’s whip-it smart, has awesome design and video editing skills, plus has awesome style (inspiring Mallory to start wearing bubble gum pink lipstick and making Bianca mad jeallo that she could pull off a half shaved head like Bianca’s always wanted to try).

YAY Klarika! Cupcake celebrations 4evr.
(You may also know her as golfcake on tumblr!)

We found this illustration by Liz Adams for Elle Girl and immediately fell in love. So approps, not only because we were featured on ElleGirl.com recently for our 30 Days of Prom Dresses, but also because THOSE TWO GIRLS ARE PRACTICALLY US!
Mallory in her girly, bright, poofy, cupcake-ness and Bianca in her rock n’ roll, disheveled, black skinny jeans mess (good mess).
We checked out her site/portfolio and have become such huge fans. What?? Cupcakicorn?? Cupcake and Unicorn in one?? Hell Yes.
Liz Adams, we <3 u 4Evr.

A Small Girls Experiment- Harajuku Fragrances

1/12/11

Day 3 of our Harajuku Fragrance experiment is brought to you by the letter G. As in, the name of the fragrance was ‘G’, which we interpreted as “money”, and later realized it stood for Gwen.

In the G-money theme, we wore green (which is the color of money, and also starts with the letter ‘G’), went to a party by a startup that just got a bunch of G’s with a capital G-roupMe.

And so we discuss our outfits, the fragrance, and the party.

Outfits

Mallory: I wore a green dress to represent dollar bills and a gold jacket to represent a gold brick. I didn’t wear heels because then I’d look like a million bucks and for this particular event I could only look like one thousand. I also repeatedly sang ‘like a g6’ in my head, hoping to parlay the qualities of said g6 in my physical presence and demeanor. Done.

Bianca: We had to dress like G’s… so I wore my green leggings. That was a given. Then I just stared at my green leggings for a while and really thought about what what I could wear with them, which is a problem I face every time I wear these green leggings. I got them because they were like my ode to Poison Ivy (oh god, maybe I should stop referencing comic book characters…).

Anyway, Bada Boum. There it was. The Rebecca Minkoff shirt. And I was like, I bet G’s would be like “Bada Boum”. Then I put some bling on and decided to wear shorts over my green leggings so I wouldn’t be wearing green leggings as pants.

Moto jacket… some aviators… yea. Money.

Fragrance Review

Mallory: Since GroupMe clearly knows a thing or two about making a good product, I figured I’d ask them if ‘G’ was deserving of a g. Cam had the most compelling and thought-provoking response.

Cam: This smells really familiar.

Mallory: Like what?

Cam: Teenage girls.

Bianca: Mallory forewarned me that the fragrance was going to smell bad… and that some people thought it smelled like High School. I took a sniff, and it reminded me of the scent Sweet Pea from Bath and Body Works. Which isn’t necessarily bad… but definitely HS. I tried to get some reactions from people, but the scent wore off after I walked through half the room. Whatever. It was weird asking people to smell me anyway.

Party Review

Mallory: Rachel Sklar truly changed the ratio with her wild rendition of Meredith Brooks’ “Bitch” Other karaoke highlights included Pat.

Bianca: This party was amazing. Karaoke, dancing, beer pong, and a persuasive bartender. Whoever ordered the chicken fingers and french fries towards the end is our 2nd favorite person ever. Following Pat, who is our first favorite person ever. As that Observer article says… he truly was a Wonder Boy… holding down the Karaoke fort n stuff.

Kenyatta’s Tweets

Dear Internet.

I have not tweeted in over two months. I don’t know what happened. I got busy and then things got complicated. You know how it is.

Now I need help, Internet. You’re my only hope.

Help me figure out what I should tweet next by submitting your 140 character suggestion to WhatShouldKenyattaTweet.tumblr.com.

In a week, I will have a launch party where I will actually send my next tweet.

Thanks to your generosity, the world will be set right again.

Just as we were beginning to thing we had nothing to blog about other than our own awesome clients and our own awesome adventures, Kenyatta’s lack of something to tweet about gave us something else to blog about.

We love twitter (well, more-so sending our message in a ridiculous yet charming way with a hint of 5 year old, Barbie, and secret yet not so secret self-awareness on twitter)… and we love tumblr… and we love Kenyatta… AND WE LOVE PARTIES!! AHHH.

This is awesome. We want to ‘help Kenyatta save his twitter account from becoming a wasteland of inactivity’!!! ::raising our hands overzealously::

Also… Ellie just made us want a Lobster Roll

We started using Ploject at Johnny Cupcakes. It’s a wonderful tool created by my good friend Chris Kalani. It’s been really handy for collecting ideas, inspiration, and keeping it all in one spot.
I can’t wait till the rest of the world can start using this tool. It’s a game changer.

Us Small Girls are always collecting ideas and inspiration… and just email them to each other or try and save them in our heads (that’s why our hair is so big, full of ideas and inspiration). We have a physical idea/inspiration book, but this tool that Chris made sounds EXACTLY like what we need! OMG!
We love when people we (kind of) know make awesome useful things. Ahem… Chris, can we get an invite pls? I dunno if you’ve heard, but we’re the best beta testers in town. THE BEST. Plus we’ll give you hugs and glitter. Yeah!

So yesterday while I was working Maxx was sitting next to me at my desk drawing for about twenty minutes. After she left I looked at what she made and realized that she is a genius.
On the left is Zachary’s business card which was sitting next to her. On the right is Maxx’s drawing.
I mean, come on.
:)

Totally want Maxx to be our Small Girls intern.

Bianca is Maxx’s biggest small fan…. or smallest biggest fan… or whatever.
ANYWAY- Maxx is a small girl and a genius, which would make her the perfect addition to the Small Girls team.

INFLUENCERS TRAILER: how trends/ideas become contagious

“When you get to a certain place, if someone has helped you to get you where you are, you MUST help identify younger talent and be the mentor for somebody else.” - Sky Gellatly, Director of Strategy, Team Epiphany

We often talk about how lucky we are that we know so many amazing and talented people with whom we can collaborate. It’s all about exchanging thoughts, connecting people, and making singular ideas grow into something bigger by working together.

We do what we do because we love to bring people together and turn ideas into reality.

This video is really inspiring- and also Dao, Public School’s Creative Director, is in it! We <3 Public School.
