Social media is our favorite means of communication at Small Girl PR, more specifically, Twitter - it’s informal, to the point, and takes place in real time. And as you probably already know, we also really love Taylor Swift. So, when we read about the MLB “Glove Story” Twitter takeover, we knew we had to share.
If you missed this baseball meets pop-princess news, go HERE to see the full story, it’s a real home-run for the history of baseball social media.
Our founder Mallory was featured in this BetaKit piece on social media etiquette as someone who is totally crushing it when it comes to Twitter. Follow her @yourpalmal !
There’s a #FirstTweet for Everything:
Such a fantastic campaign to celebrate Twitter’s 8 years- looking back at everyone’s beginnings by allowing users to search their first tweet ever.
This one was ours. Obviously.
In honor of last week’s Twitter IPO, this week’s Report takes a deeper look at the brand approach of one of the companies central to Twitter’s rise as an ecosystem: Betaworks. We explore their more comprehensive approach to brand partnerships, with a focus of their recent hire of their first ever “Chief Revenue Officer.”
Betaworks Taps Huffpost Exec As First Chief Revenue Officer
We love this Partnered Report video featuring Betaworks- we see quite a few of our friends’ startups and Small Girls client GE! <3
ZOMG! Hillz is on twitter with more than 110K followers in her first few hours! As one of our badass lady heroes, we are so excited to be following her today.
We’re extending our #namethatsock contest through Tuesday 4/16! Enter for you chance to name our sock line launching next week by tweeting your entry at @coryvines with the hashtag #namethatsock
Do you <3 socks? We <3 socks! Help our client, Cory Vines, #namethatsock on twitter!
#ScrippsPRSSAtoNYC goes to Secret Clubhouse:
We had members of Ohio University’s PRSSA chapter stop by our office this morning to learn about how we do PR at Small Girls. Absolutely LOVED having them here and sharing our story. It’s so great to see such a motivated group of students who are passionate about PR and open to learning as much about the field as possible.
If you can remember, we discovered our rockstar Account Manager Annie through PRSSA when Mallory spoke at their conference in Utah! We had her share her story with the group, so they could see how beneficial being a part of the organization is.
We also encouraged tweeting during our presentation, and tweets we did get. We wish we could RT them all… but for easier social consumption, we just posted an album on Facebook of their kind kind words they tweeted.
Of course no Small Girls talk is complete without giving people things- so we added some glitter into their lives by giving them some BA Star cheer stars! You know, bc glitter is an ingredient to being a PR star.
Remember that time that Anonymous hacked Burger King’s twitter account and turned it into a McDonald’s wonderland?
Earlier today, Internet Avengers, Anonymous, went HAMburger on Burger King’s twitter account; changing their avatar to the McD’s logo, canvassing their profile design to promotional McDonald’s material, and tweeting entertaining yet completely bizarre content like, “try our new BK (tm) Bath Salt! 99% Pure MDPV! Buy a Big Mac, get a gram free”.
The Big Mac-ker Hackers also tweeted out links to Gucci Mane and Chief Keef vids, you know, because they could. They even gave a shout out to #Seapunk DJ, @LILINTERNET, which begs the question…when will the Seapunks of the water-world unite and open up a fast food chain that sells Fish Sticks and Cod Fish Sandwiches? Free idea: dye the tartar sauce turquoise, in true Seapunk form, and call it “#SEAPUNKDUNK”.
Okay, so, only 1.5 of the Small Girls care about sports. But maybe all of us would be football/basketball/whatever fanatics if the players all wore Twitter handles on the backs of their jerseys like the University of Akron’s Men’s Basketball team, the Zips, plans to do on February 2nd!
In an effort to generate buzz for Akron University’s “Social Media Night”, the team recently unveiled new basketball jerseys. The new jerseys (made by Nike, ooooh) feature the Zips’ Twitter handle, @ZipsMBB, on the back, and have rocketed the team (and Akron’s “Social Media Night”) into the
internet’s public eye. In addition, the court will be canvassed with the #hashtags, “#ZipsGameDay” and “#ThinkBigger”.
Now, if we could just find a way to be the Zips’ tech-cheerleaders…
