Recently we celebrated Alan and Annie’s birthdays. Aside from beer, cake, and general merriment, we decided the best way to add Small Girls flair to traditional birthday hoopla (other than throwing pink glitter at them and hoping for the best) was to throw a surprise pottery painting party at Baked in Brooklyn.

Small Girls PR, a digital PR agency that takes on creative projects with a personable flair, seeks quick-witted media enthusiast to work on press strategy as well as editor relationships & brand partnerships across a variety of kick ass companies. Specifically, must love startups, entrepreneurship, and all things Internet.

We are a low stress office filled with positive, talented people. We work with creative b2c clients, dominantly in technology and fashion. Current client projects include Meetup, GE, Northside Festival’s tech conference, Flavorpill & ABSOLUT, Portovelo Shoes, and more.

Responsibilities would include:

• Crafting strategy & managing its swift execution

• Ideating & brokering cross-promotional opportunities for clients

• Relationship building with bloggers & editors alike

• Angle ideation & pitching

• Client comms

• Event production/coordination when necessary

• Brainstorming proposals to sign ‘em on and writing recaps to wrap ‘em up

REQUIREMENTS Please do not apply without below:

• Proof of established media & editorial relationships

• Extremely creative with a fast mind: someone who meets a writer at a party and can immediately think of client notes that fit that writer’s beat and pitch on the fly.

• Voracious reader of the news - familiarity with those who make it and cover it

• Proficiency in Excel, Cision, Power Point, and a fan of Google Drive

• Excellent critical thinking and writing skills (the more inventive and creative your pitch the better but you need to be able to quickly articulate it in an email as well)

• Technology background preferred though conversation can be kept open.

Role is full-time & out of our Williamsburg offices (located off the Bedford L stop). Compensation to match experience.

Small Girls <3’s Brooklyn. It is home to many smart, creative, innovative, thoughtful, interesting, and fun people. Starting tomorrow, the best borough will be showing them all off at the 8th annual Northside Festival! One part tech conference, on part film festival, and one part rockin’ concert Northside is an amazing celebration of the brilliance happening all around us every day.

This Northside, we worked on the technology portion of the event, NeXT, helping to identify panel opportunities and fill the stage with innovative speakers as well as arranged invitations for local thinkers, writers, and founders to learn and exchange ideas with conference participants.The greater NYC tech community has many gems of wisdom to share and leaders from Shapeways, Warby Parker, OMGPop and others will take us through disruptive new business solutions, down the road to acquisition, and explore the changing pace of making in America all through the lens of New York City’s creative communities. Small Girls Links - Huffpo Tech: What Really Happens On A Teen Girl’s iPhone

Our friend and writer Bianca Bosker followed a 14 year old girl to get some insight on her mobile social habits. As two Small Girls whose demographic is largely in the teen market, we can really appreciate how this piece encapsulates the teen-girl ethos when it comes to social media and mobile web/apps.

That being said, we’re pretty sure quite a few of our 20-30something friends and colleagues will also be caught playing too many rounds of Dots for their own good, obsessing over how many likes their instagram posts get, and failing to maintain relationships due to lack of mobile connectivity. The difference is that this girl has no problem being completely honest on how her iphone has consumed her life. But hey… we work in media so it’s ok, right?

One Year Small

*This is a post from our Account Coordinator and Official Angel Princess,Annie, reflecting on her first year as a Small Girl.

On May 14th, 2012 I was greeted with a hug from a very little lady (Bianca) when I entered the Small Girls office for the first time. Minutes later, when Mallory arrived, I remember feeling disproportionately tall, standing next to my two tiny, new bosses. One thing I learned quick though, these two might be small but they are mighty. Life as a Small Girl is kind of amazing. I am constantly learning new things, meeting new people and challenging my creativity- all while letting my girly personality shine through. Here are some things I have learned during my first year as a (tall) Small Girl:

Everything looks better if you add pink paint + glitter, this includes business cards, office decor, and even some items stolen from our dad’s tool kits.
Prom is a serious business…
New Yorkers don’t smile in pictures (something I am still working on).
Being genuine will get you further in business, and in life, than anything else.
It is possible to watch an entire non-3D movie, while wearing 3D glasses, without noticing.
Being small sometimes means doing small jobs and wearing many hats, these can include: Ikea carpenter, mail man, and temporary model.

… just to name a few.

We celebrated my 1 year ANNIE-versay, in our flapper best, with pizza and cocktails at Lasso EV and The Great Gatsby.

BTW- we loved the movie. It was full of dancing and glitter, how could we not?

It’s safe to say I’m extremely excited for my next year with Small Girls.

What’s your motto?

What would you say is the most challenging thing you have climbed - whether physically or metaphorically?

I’m not sure. Well, the physical one was a boulder in Peterskill with a big scary overhang. It wasn’t technically tough, just terrifying- big swinging moves where you had to trust that your hands would be able to find something you could hold on to. But it was the most rewarding thing I’ve climbed.

I think the metaphor works there too though, taking a job as a writer for a website and dropping out of college was pretty scary, but it has ultimately been rewarding.

Which world history character do you most dislike?

This is a trick question right? I have to say Hitler. This is some kind of trick where if I don’t say Hitler you just tell everyone I’m a monster. Hitler.

What is your favorite post-workout snack?

Bananas and Peanut Butter. Gonna go eat one now. BRB. K, back. It was delicious.

Which activities make you lose track of time?

Sleeping. No matter how much sleep I get I always want more. I’m insatiable. Both for sleep and bananas and peanut butter.
